Community Service
The Guild participates in many community service projects. Some recent past and present projects and recipients include: teddy bears, lap quilts and crocheted afghans for seniors in long term care facilities; toiletries for Family Haven clients; fleece blankets, quilts, toys, and books for children served by the Northeast Texas Child Advocacy Center; floor cushions for children at the Sulphur Springs Public Library; “Pink” cancer quilts for the Hopkins County Hospital; and lap quilts for our wounded heroes at the Intrepid Center in San Antonio.
Continuing a tradition of benevolence, monetary donations were given in 2007 to Child Advocacy Center, Terrific Tuesdays, Family Haven of Hopkins County, Hopkins Hospice, and the Veteran’s Memorial Wall of Hopkins County.
During the 2007 Christmas Season, the family of a soldier serving in Iraq was honored with a donation of cash; a box of small necessities and Christmas cards were sent to Iraq for our service personnel; two local families with special needs were remembered with gift certificates to a local store.
